Days of our Lives legend Deidre Hall speaks out about Drake Hogestyn’s Death

Days of our Lives’ Deidre Hall has finally broken her silence over the death of longtime co-star Drake Hogestyn.

Deidre Hall Releases Statement About Drake Hogestyn

Co-stars have been pouring out their hearts since news of the beloved star’s death broke on September 28. Hogestyn passed away after a battle with cancer just one day shy of his 71st birthday.

Hall, who was Hogestyn’s co-star for 38 years as part of the iconic pair of John and Marlena, released a statement to Access Hollywood on Wednesday.

“For nearly 4 decades, Marlena Evans and I have loved the same man. Marlena’s John is an iconic hero, unfailingly rescuing her from all matters of villains,” Hall said. “My acting partner was incredibly professional from the moment he entered the studio; flawless in his preparation and ready for any eventuality in any scene.

“He was gracious and kind to everyone, from the executive staff to the night crew. Drake loved what he did and adored and respected everyone with whom he did it. Having said that, we always knew that his two greatest loves were his family and the Yankees. Victoria and their children were truly the center of his life. Drake is dearly loved by everyone who ever knew him and he will be missed beyond measure. We will continue, as he always encouraged us, to swing for the fences.”

“Swinging for the fences” is a phrase multiple DAYS stars have been using when talking of Hogestyn this week as the actor was a professional baseball player before landing in Hollywood.

Hogestyn’s last scenes as John Black aired on September 9 and featured emotional moments between John and Tate and John and Brady.

Don’t forget to watch new episodes of Days of our Lives on Peacock starting at 6 AM ET each weekday.
