Days of our Lives’ Susan Seaforth Hayes Pays Tribute to Her Husband After Doug’s Memorial

Days of our Lives star Susan Seaforth Hayes gave a eulogy as Julie Williams said goodbye to her husband, Doug Williams. It was a case of art imitating life for Seaforth Hayes as she had to say goodbye to her real-life husband in January after Bill Hayes passed.

Touching Words About A Life Well-Lived

After Doug’s funeral aired on Tuesday, December 3, Seaforth Hayes took to Instagram to share sweet words about her off-screen and on-screen husband.

“For all of you who have joined me in spirit through the days of Billy’s passing and Doug’s memorial on Days of Our Lives, I thank you,” she wrote. “It was a privilege to share my joy in his life with so many via television. Our Corday Family honored us with a particular love story that began 54 years ago in front of a television camera and ended there, too. How amazing! My darling was a steadfast, inspiring father to five children. He helped build a hospital in Africa, starred on Broadway for Rodgers and Hammerstein, conducted choirs… and I could never tell you the half of it. He held me up with love so true. That’s all that keeps me or Julie standing now… recalling those glorious yesterdays and looking forward to more tomorrows.”

During the on-screen eulogy that Julie gave, Seaforth Hayes was also describing her husband and what a bright light he was in her life, touching so many through the years. We got to learn about Doug and Julie’s marriage, as well as Bill and Susan’s long and happy marriage.

Bill and Susan Hayes married in 1974. Bill Hayes died in January of this year at the age of 98.
