DAYS Recap, April 1: Holly Faces the Consequences of Her Actions
Holly spills all and has to face the music, but what will Tate do next?
On the April 1, episode of Days of our Lives, Holly tells the truth, Tate is set free, Xander gets a lead, and Paulina get the best news of her life.
Nicole Hears the Harsh Truth
Everyone was quiet in the DiMera living room after a tipsy Holly (Ashley Puzemis) announced that the drugs she overdosed on were hers and not Tate’s (Jamie Martin Mann). EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) was embarrassed after all he did to Tate, but tried not to show it. Brady (Eric Martsolf) was furious that his son’s life was ruined for months just because Holly couldn’t tell the truth and chewed her out for her part in Tate living in a halfway house.
Nicole (Arianne Zucker) was beside herself and couldn’t imagine why Holly would tell Eric (Greg Vaughan) the truth before she told her. Holly explained that she didn’t want to hurt her mother and she didn’t want to be judged. EJ refused to let up and insisted that Tate must have been Holly’s dealer, but Holly was adamant that he was not.
Holly went on to explain that she heard Nicole talking when she thought she was sleeping and didn’t want her mom to blame herself for her drug use after what happened with the baby Nicole lost. She thought learning that her daughter was druggie might cause Nicole to lose her mind.
Holly Tries Defending Her Horrid Actions
Nicole tried to be understanding with Holly, but EJ was still furious, as was Brady. Holly kept apologizing but EJ wasn’t even sure if he could believe her. Finally, Holly took Nicole to her room to show her proof. First, she asked Nicole if she was ashamed of her. Nicole just wished she felt she could come to her mom and not just go to Eric or keep a secret.
Holly then showed her mother the proof of her drug use. She had a whole stash of drugs in a jewelry box. Nicole was stunned that this had been going on for months and she hadn’t noticed. Nicole insisted they go to the living room so Holly could show everyone else. Holly told them that Tate tried to talk her out of taking the pills on New Year’s Eve.
Down in the living room, Holly told her truth again and Brady insisted that EJ drop the charges against Tate immediately or he would sue. After Brady stormed out, Nicole took comfort in Eric’s arms, which EJ did not like at all.
Eric later admitted that Holly told him what happened only hours before. He told Nicole that he was leaving it up to Holly to tell the truth because it was her place. When Eric left, he found Holly crying outside and tried to be a voice of support for her, telling her she was very brave. Holly still thought of Eric as her dad and wished that Eric and Nicole were still together.
Theresa Takes Tate to Task
Tate and Theresa (Emily O’Brien) argued over Holly’s phone call. Tate claimed Holly cared about him but Theresa didn’t want her son seeing this girl since she’s only caused him trouble. Theresa chastised Tate for getting mouthy with her.
Theresa did not care how much Tate defended Holly. She didn’t want her son seeing that girl and took Tate to task for sneaking out of the halfway house the other night. Tate wasn’t happy when Theresa called Holly a selfish little liar she despised with her whole being. She soon slipped into calm mother mode and gave Tate a talk on how complicated relationships can be. She was living proof that they could destroy you emotionally.
She told him that the key to a successful relationship was mutual respect and that Holly didn’t have any respect for Tate cause she hadn’t told the truth yet. Theresa didn’t like Tate making excuses for inexcusable behavior.
Tate and Theresa were later shocked when Brady arrived with the news that Holly confessed. He was also surprised when Justin (Wally Kurth) called to tell them that Tate was free to go home. Of course, the first thing Tate wanted to do was rush to see Holly, which didn’t sit well with his parents. Theresa remained furious at Holly, especially after learning Tate also knew the truth for weeks and sanctioned Holly’s lies.
Xander Tries to Prove His Innocence
As Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) readied for work, Xander (Paul Telfer) showed her all the evidence that the prosecution has against him in his case. Sarah wanted to help him sift through it but duty at the hospital called. Xander was just grateful that Harris (Steve Burton) and Sarah believed in him and Harris was even the victim in this big shooting mess.
After Sarah left, Xander went searching through the evidence while doing some googling and realized he could never survive as a detective. At least Baby Victoria was there to distract him and remind him that he had a good reason to prove his innocence — his daughter. Finally, Xander wondered if his jogging clothes could provide a clue for the police. Xander was sure he might have something to bring to Rafe (Galen Gering) to get the charges against him dropped.
The Best News for Paulina
Abe (James Reynolds) and Paulina (Jackee Harry) prepared for a day out with Paulina worried about her looks. Abe praised his wife, which led to a romantic moment between the newly reunited couple. Paulina admitted she was more concerned about her test results than anything else. She was about to learn if she was really cancer-free.
After Paulina’s MRI, she and Abe anxiously awaited the results. Finally, Sarah arrived with the big news because the oncologist had been called away. Paulina was thrilled to learn that she was in complete remission and there was absolutely no sign of cancer. Abe and Paulina rejoiced at their miracle. She didn’t have cancer. Abe had his memory back and now they could get on with the rest of their lives.
Yes, Paulina would have to have some more treatment to make sure the cancer didn’t return, but for now, it all looked like excellent news.
