DAYS Recap, May 17: Holly Breaks Nicole’s Heart

On the May 17 episode of Days of our Lives, Holly’s nasty mouth brought Nicole to tears, Marlena saw something familiar in Jude, Stefan brought his fight to the mayor, and Ava had some news for Steve.

Holly’s Horrible to Her Mother

Nicole (Arianne Zucker) wanted to make up with Holly (Ashley Puzemis) after their disastrous Mother’s Day meal. Holly claimed she had too much studying to do, but Nicole didn’t buy it. When Holly pushed about prom, Nicole refused to relent so Holly lashed out. She said she was always trying so hard to be perfect so she wouldn’t be the cause of another man leaving.

Nicole was taken aback and described her own life as the daughter of an abused mother, but Holly didn’t care. She said maybe there was a reason Nicole’s babies had died. She wasn’t a good mother and Holly sometimes wished she was never born.

That prompted Nicole to go out and drink. While at the club, Eric (Greg Vaughan) called and realized she was drunk, so he headed over there to get her. He took her home to the mansion and she promptly planted a kiss on him.

As for Holly, she found Marlena (Deidre Hall) in her office late at night and told her what happened. She felt guilty for saying things she didn’t mean, but Marlena told her people lashed out at the people they were closest to. Marlena told Holly to write an apology letter to Nicole.

Eric Bonds With Jarlena

Eric stopped by John and Marlena so they could see Jude on what was still apparently Mother’s Day. Marlena was even surprised to see that Jude smiled just like Eric did at that age. It was amazing the bond they had.

Talk soon turned to his new job working with Nicole. Eric admitted that Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) was not happy about the arrangement but was learning to live with it. John just wanted to know if they needed any money since he heard they were having financial problems.

EJ Gets Fired

Stefan (Brandon Barash) took things above EJ’s (Daniel Feuerriegel) head and went straight to Paulina (Jackee Harry). He told her that there was new evidence to exonerate Gabi, but she thought it was all circumstantial. However, her ears perked up when she learned that EJ wouldn’t even re-open the case for reasonable doubt — and that he planned to be permanent CEO of DiMera.

That was against city bylaws, so Paulina called EJ over and promptly fired him to violating policy and using the office for personal vendettas.

Catching Clyde

Steve (Stephen Nichols) ran into Ava (Tamara Braun) outside The Brady Pub and told her he knew she had to be involved in the Gil’s black book situation. Ava admitted she knew all about it and wanted to use it as a permanent way to get rid of Clyde so he didn’t implicate her, Steve, and John. Steve liked the idea and immediately headed over to John’s place to update him.
