Dominique Casts A Shadow On Deception From Beyond? Sasha & Cody’s Romance In Danger?

On the surface, the drama and dysfunction at Deception Cosmetics may appear to just be Lucy-induced, however the origins of the company may have more to do with the current state of affairs than Maxie knows. Let’s begin with the recent situation where Cody (Josh Kelly) decided to relinquish his role as the male face of Deception after Lucy insulted his talents for it. Were they both just a bit too rash in making those choices? Especially considering Lucy’s relationship with Cody’s late mother.

In the process of his exit Cody inspired Sasha to reflect on what is really important in life and maybe realize her feelings for him, and so she also announced her exit from Deception. Sasha’s decision was met with dire warnings from Lucy that not only will she be rid of the burdens of a glamorous career, but she’ll also be without the finances. However, she will have more time to help Olivia with some culinary chores and of course, spend time with Cody at the stables. The attraction between them is growing, but there’s a problem that may hinder their relationship from coming to fruition in a timely fashion! Josh Kelly will be leaving GH for what is reported to be a “short term” to work on a film titled The Workout Video, and there have been no reports with specifics on the duration of the break. Will Sasha have to move on or will their romance simply be put on the back burner while she finds herself? 

There still seems to be some confusion about where Cody came from and how he falls into the picture. So for the fans questioning Cody’s identity and relevance here’s a quick breakdown; He is the son of Mac Scorpio and Dominique Stanton. In 2022, it was revealed that Dominique had a son named Cody Bell, whom she gave up for adoption. Dominique arrived in Port Charles in the 90s. She fell in love with Mac Scorpio and after divorcing her obsessive husband Leopold Taub, she arrived in Port Charles to pursue a relationship with Mac. 

That relationship was troubled from the very beginning and eventually ended, but Dominique inherited a fortune from her ex-husband after his death and she became one of the partners at Deception Perfume alongside Lucy Coe, Julia Barrett (Brenda’s elder sister) and Scott Baldwin, and at one point she was the face of the company. Dominique and Scott fell in love, but Dominique would eventually die from a brain tumor, however with Lucy’s help as their surrogate they were able to have a daughter named Serena. 

Upon his arrival, Mac immediately recognizes that Cody could be the son he and Dominique shared. A DNA test proves that Mac is indeed Cody’s biological father, however Cody misleads everyone to believe that the test is not a match because he wants everyone to believe he is the son of Leopold so that he can inherit a 35 million dollar necklace from the estate. Dominique left all of her fortune to Scott and Serena, so he won’t be able to get his hand on that. Or could he?

Now back to the issues at hand. Exactly why is Lucy so quick to push Cody as far from Deception as possible? Will there be a change in casting for Cody?
