Emmy Nomination for One of GH’s Youngest Stars

This Friday, June 7, the 51st Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented on CBS. General Hospital has several nominations, but there is one that, to me, is outstanding because of the exceptional talent of the young GH cast member who received it.

That would be Jophielle Love, who since October 2019 has been stealing viewers’ hearts as Violet Finn. However, as excellent as her acting is, that is not why she got the nod (in any case, the Younger Performer category no longer exists). Instead, this incredible child actor, who recently turned 10, is nominated in the category of Outstanding Original Song.

This year, Love impressed us with her original tune “True Love,” which she performed at Chase and Brook Lynn’s wedding. As for last year, during a family gathering in December, at which Chase and Brook Lynn announced their engagement, Violet had presented her family with her first original song, “Shine,” as Uncle Chase accompanied her on the guitar. Not only is the song nominated in this category, but it is the only song nominated that is from a soap opera.

Love is thrilled about her nomination. Back in April, on her Instagram page, she shared her excitement: “OMG! My first song, ‘Shine,’ got nominated for a Daytime Emmy! I am so excited!”

Love comes from a family of stunt performers that comprises her parents, who at one time performed for Cirque de Soileil, and her two brothers, who are also actors. If at 10 years old she already has these creative skills, I can’t wait to see her talents develop when she is a teen and a young adult. Hopefully she will continue to write and perform songs as dazzling as “Shine” and “True Love.” And hopefully we will see her talents at the next nurses ball.

Editor’s note: The winner in the category of Outstanding Original Song will be revealed Night Two, at The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Creative Arts & Lifestyle Awards, Saturday, June 8. The event will be streamed on The Emmys® apps and at watch.TheEmmys.tv.
