General Hospital Casting STUNNER: Kelly Monaco OUT As Sam McCall

Kelly Monaco, who has been bringing Samantha McCall to life on General Hospital for the last 21 years, has been let go from the soap.

What Happens to Sam?

Monaco began playing Sam in 2003 and arrived on the Port Charles scene with Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks. She was revealed as a con woman who had an affair with Sonny Corinthos and became pregnant. When Jason offered to claim the child as his own, Jason and Sam fell in love and became a bona fide soap supercouple.

Sam will reportedly be killed off GH, leaving longtime fans devastated. She has been in a popular pairing with Dominic Zamprogna’s Dante Falconeri for the last three years and we were looking forward to the angst between them when Lulu soon emerges from her four-year coma. Now, Dante will get Lulu back, but lose Sam.

Monaco was recently temporarily replaced by Lindsay Hartley, but there is no word whether that has anything to do with why GH let the actress go. Monaco is also a dancing sensation, having won the first season of Dancing With the Stars, taking home the Mirror Ball Trophy.

Last fall, Monaco celebrated 20 years as part of the GH scene, but was first a part of the Port Charles scene on the GH spin-off Port Charles. She played Livvie Locke and her alter-ego, Tess. Monaco was paired with Michael Easton on Port Charles, and again on GH when Easton played John McBain and Silas Clay.

There is no word yet on when Sam will be killed, but it looks like it will happen sometime in the coming weeks. Fans who had wanted her to reunite with Jason when Burton returned will be devastated by the loss.
