GH Recap April 1, 2024 – Jake confronts Jason, Anna wants to recruit Dex, Blaze joins Deception
Jake confronts his father Jason about his absence. Getting Blaze to sign on at Deception hits a snag; Natalia.
Dante is walking in the halls of the hospital when Sonny arrives. Sonny teases him about not seeing him as a child making first steps but now, he is getting his chance. Sweetly suggests that he will be there to catch him if he falls.
At the Webber household, Liz wants to shower but Jake is hogging the bathroom. Aiden opens the door because Liz is in a robe, to see Jason. Liz comes out to speak with Jason. He asks her if it’s okay for him to stop by and thanks her for being at the arraignment. Liz congratulates him on having his charges dropped. Liz warns him that if he had come before they knew he hadn’t shot Dante, he might have gotten a colder reception. She tells him the timing is right.
In her office at the Invader, Alexis argues with the assistant publisher Adrian (the Invader’s gossip columnist.) He has been made assistant publisher by Nina and wants to push his ideas on an irate Alexis. Diane arrives and interrupts.
At Deception, Blaze reads the contract for becoming the Face of Deception. Lucy is excited and Brook Lynn agrees with her, telling Blaze that this move is a great idea for her career. As her music manager, she believes the publicity will be helpful. Blaze’s mother Natalia breezes into the room asking if Blaze has signed anything yet and stops her. She informs Maxi, Lucy, Brook Lynn, and Blaze that it’s easier to start from scratch than tear a contract up.
Liz cleans up, catching Jason up on her promotion to head nurse and her now busier schedule. Jason is aware of Epiphany’s death. He laments how much happened in two years referencing the deaths of Bobbie, and Britt and how much he has missed. Jason comments that she looks happy and is different. Liz says that he is different. He agrees.
Alexis tosses Adrian out of her office while Diane laughs. Alexis complains that Nina is trying to make the paper into a rag. Diane says they are half a step closer to getting her back to law.
Natalia questions the contract and why Sasha left the company. Lucy explains that her look was too wholesome, and magazines want a ‘gen Z’ hip edgy vibe. Natalia rejects the term ‘edgy’ convinced that it is a less-than-savory label for Blaze and unacceptable. Blaze agrees. Her presentation is meant to be as a creative, not edgy. Lucy insists that she wants Blaze to be herself. Flipping through the contract, Natalia objects to clause 3. It’s a problem for her to have Blaze be a spokesmodel for products.
Dante in his hospital bed, is weak and wants his strength back. He reassures Sonny that he knows he will be okay. Dante is shocked that Jason was arrested. Tells Sonny about the shooter with Jason.
At Liz’s, Aiden is concerned because Jason was shot. As Jason reassures him that he’s okay, Jake walks in unaware that Jason is there. He gets angry.
While researching the disbarment case, learned that one of the original attorneys Fergus Byrne recused himself. Fergus was Neil’s third brother. The committee replaced Fergus with his law partner. Diane believes this is fishy and the opening they need to get the case tossed. Alexis had never met Fergus, not even at the service. Diane thinks that was intentional.
Anna recommends Dex to an Instructor at Police Academy. She talks him up telling the man that Dex is ex-military, could easily pass a drug test and the JST. The instructor wants to know why she wants to fast track him. Anna tells him about how Dex worked for Sonny Corinthos. He is skeptical but Anna thinks it will work in their favor.
Dante did not recognize the man who shot him. The body is missing. There’s no physical evidence. Sonny Insists Jason knew the guy because he was on the roof with him lining up a shot t kill Sonny. Dante defends Jason, aware that he would have bled out without him. Sonny drops the information that Jason is working as an informant for the FBI.
Jake wants an explanation for why Jason left and never called or bothered to let his family know he was alive. Jason doesn’t have a good answer. He tells Jake he took a job he didn’t want and couldn’t contact anyone. Jake doesn’t believe him.
Lucy walks Natalia through the process of the publicity part of being the face of Deception. She would make appearances on Home & Heart and appearances for promotion of the products. Natalia refuses to allow Blaze to hawk products. She wants Blaze separated from selling products. Her contract should be for photo shoots only.
The police instructor is unhappy with the idea of hiring one of Sonny Corintho’s ex-employees. Anna disagrees. Dex’s position in Sonny’s organization gives him inside information that could help them take the mobster in. The instructor accuses her of being lenient and collaborating with Sonny. She corrects him. Anna says that while that may have been true in the past, recent events have shown her that they have to check crime and limit Sonny’s influence. Passing on the advantage that Dex poses would be stupid on their part.
Dante is surprised Jason would work with the feds. Sonny cannot accept that Jason would work with yhe FBI and declares that Jason is dead to him. Dante doesn’t agree with Sonny. He believes Sonny doesn’t have the full story and that Jason was his righthand man for years. Sonny denies Jason’s loyalty and believes that Nixon Falls changed everything. This Jason isn’t the Jason he knew. He changes the subject to Dante’s recovery.
Diane believes without the Byrnes’ influence on the committee that Alexis will win. Alexis is not sure she should get her license back. The Invader is annoying, but law can cause restless nights. Diane challenges her lack of confidence in herself. Alexis explains that she turned her life into a car wreck and Molly is worried she will relapse into alcoholism. She is worried she might derail her sobriety and trash her current life.
Natalia has a red pen and has crossed out pitching products and live participation. Lucy appeals to Blaze about the prestige of being the face of Deception. Blaze agrees with her mother but wants toffers a compromise: Get a second face for in person event. Lucy is inspired.
Jake is angry with his father because he isn’t sure how long he is staying. Jason came back but not for his family and Jake is painfully aware of that. He tries to get an explanation but Jason can’t argue why. Devastated by Jake’s reaction, Jason leaves. Liz stops him outside to tell him she is glad he is alive but she validates Jake’s anger. Liz tells Jason that Jake is afraid of losing his father.
Liz now dressed, sits with Jake to discuss how confusing the situation is but to not be so angry with Jason. Jake thinks she should be angry. Liz doesn’t want her son taking his anger out on everyone around him. Jake asks if Liz knew Jason was alive. She did not. Jake confesses he feels guilty because he thinks it’s easier to have a dead dad then one who only shows up to commit crimes and not for his family.
Sonny comes to Anna’s office to update her on Dante’s condition. Anna tries to dismiss him. Sonny presses the issue of Jason being on the roof. Asks her what charges will she be bringing against Jason for being on the roof.
Jason visits Dante in hospital. Dante thanks him for calling 911. When Jason doesn’t want to accept his thanks because of the circumstances, Dante teases him and retracts his thanks. When asked why he stopped, Jason thought it would be safer is Dante arrested him. Jason says the name of the shooter was fake but his death was real. Dante wants to know if the shooter was also FBI.
Diane believes that Alexis is strong and accomplished. There’s no reason to think she would relapse if they lost their appeal and the petition to accept her petition was accepted. Alexis is negative. Diane wants her to be all in and pay off her debts by joining Diane’s practice when they win.
Adrian returns tossing Nina’s name around to get what he wants. Excited about how well the gossip column is doing, he pitched the idea to Nina about daily pieces called “Spotlight of Society” about all the major players in Port Charles. Alexis threatens him that if he doesn’t leave, she will. Adrian doesn’t see it as a threat. She screams at him to get out. Angrily, Alexis tells Diane to do it, get her out of here.
Blaze’s lawyer hands over the contract. Lucy says they will do great things together. Lucy, Maxie, and Brook Lynn are excited to work with Blaze. Natalia demands Blaze’s private life to remain private. Maxie is suspicious of the reasoning behind it and asks Blaze if that’s what she wants. Blaze agrees, reluctantly.
Liz knows that Jason cares. Jake is hurt and feels more like an obligation. Liz explains that Jason is complicated. She insists that he doesn’t lie. Jason always tells the truth. Jake thinks Jason is done with him. Liz says Jason will keep showing up.
Dante warns Jason that Sonny believes he’s a traitor, but he doesn’t believe it. Jason insists he did not inform on Sonny but can’t say who he did inform on. Dante guesses that the FBI has big leverage. Jason agrees saying here has no choice and that Sonny has nothing to do with it. He will keep Sonny safe.
Anna angrily tells Sonny that there are no charges and Jason clearly wasn’t trying to shoot him. Anna suggests if he wants charges, she could charge him with Cyrus’ attack. Sonny is confused by her anger. Anna believes her attitude toward Sonny was colored by her friendship with Robin. And the days of him skating by are over. She tosses him out of her office.
