Drew walks past Nina’s assistant Madison into Nina’s office. He dropped by to see what she was up to.
Dex shows up at the PCPD to see Detective Bennet. Bennet takes him to a room to interview him. Bennet wants to know why Dex wants to become a police officer.
At Carly’s Donna and Joss are making lasagna. Knowing Carly can’t cook, they only let her check to see if the noodles are hot. She tells them she is happy because her best friend is back.
Anna welcomes Jason into her office and thanks him for getting a phone. Anna jokes that she had to wrangle Diane to get messages through to Jason. They discuss Dante’s improvement. Jason is still in a lot of trouble, but Anna thinks they can work together and have ‘mutual goals.’
Donna is curious about Jason and wants to meet him. Carly insists that Jason will be excited to see her again.
Anna and Jason talk about Pikeman’s organization. Jason can’t say anything, and Anna guesses it is because of his engagement with Cates who is on his way over. Anna receives a call that Cates is there and lets him in.
Bennet interviews Dex, asking about his military service where he was discharged for assaulting a superior officer. Bennet notes his discharge wasn’t dishonorable and says it okay. Dex explains he worked in private security for corporate heads, politicians, and Silicon Valley guys under NDAs. Bennet calls Dex out for leaving Corinthos Coffee off the application because Dex doesn’t believe it was a legitimate job. Dex says technically yes but in reality, no.
Curtis is reluctant to tell Stella about his progress and wonders why she was there. Stella had been dropping off a cake for Trina and caught him. He downplays his progress. Stella demands to know why he would keep such good news from everyone including his wife.
Nina complains that Carly did huge damage to Crimson. Drew protests that the only damage done to the magazine was by Nina and her sabotage attempts. The issue went out on time with a bump in sales. Aggravated, Nina threatens to walk and have Carly come back. Drew calls her bluff. He calls her a rich, spoiled brat who can’t find love of a functional relationship. He knows that she has all the moneyi n the world, but he owns the magazine that she wants. Nina shoots back that Drew needs her because Carly is gone.
Michael and Wiley enter Carly’s kitchen without Amelia and Willow. When Carly asks why they aren’t there, Wiley says, “April fools!” Willow is actually putting the baby down. They surround the island and discuss how the girls made it. Joss bribes Wiley to help set the table by offering to play a Star Wars game. Taking advantage of being alone with Michael, Carly asks if Jason was with him before turning himself in.
Curtis wants to wait to tell everyone he is better until he can walk. He asks Stella to understand. Stella recounts her efforts to become whole after her stroke. She says she had to reevaluate her life ad understand she wasn’t invulnerable. Curtis is motivated but doesn’t want his family to watch him struggle. Stella wants Curtis to understand that his baby steps would bring joy to the family and to let them share in his journey. She worries that keeping the secret from Portia could destroy their marriage.
Carly figured out on her own that the Quartermaine Estate would be an easy place for Jason to hide. Michael admits he and Willow were helping him. Michael praises Willow for jumping in to help Jason and credits her with Jason’s recovery. He tells Carly that Jason confided in him that he was picked up by someone who has leverage over him and he was working as a mercenary. Carly tells Michael about the meeting with Sonny after the arraignment. Both commiserate over Ava’s involvement with Sonny. Unsure why he would find her trustworthy and even though Sonny knows Jason didn’t shoot Dante, he does know that Jason is an FBI informant. Michael is surprised by the news, putting it together that this was the information Jason couldn’t tell him. Carly says Sonny sees Jason as a traitor. Michael asks if Jason told her anything else. Carly put Jason above Bobbey’s, but he told her nothing else. Carly and Michael are happy Jason is back. Carly thanks Willow for helping Jason.
Cates is surprised to see Jason in Anna’s office and when Anna says she knows about the agreement between them, he tells Jason that violates the terms. Jason believes the agreement was made in bad faith, calls Cates, ‘Jagger.’ Jason angrily tells him that he engineered a scenario where his mother had to believe he was dead when he knew Jason’s friends, and family. Cates believes none of that matters since Jason doesn’t matter and no one had the qualifications to go after Pikeman like Jason had. He had leverage over Jason and all he cares about is Jason getting the job done.
Drew cuts to the chase with Nina and wants to stop arguing and focus on getting the fall issue out. Nina believes she is the driving force behind Crimson and Drew begged her to come back. Drew scoffs. He offered her the job as a win/win scenario. Nina needles him about losing Carly to Jason. She tries to goad him into getting payback. Drew asks what payback has ever gotten Nina.
Stella gives Curtis a motivational speech about not keeping secrets. Portia arrives home.
Dex explains his position with Sonny and how he left as soon as he could get free. He was planning to leave down but instead of running away, he went to Anna and followed her suggestion to become a cop.
Willow explained how she took care of Jason and Carly acknowledges the risk she took. She credits Spinelli as a good person for getting Willow out of trouble because of the stolen antibiotics. Willow proclaims that Jason is too for saving her from Shiloh and because Carly and Michael love him. Willow backed Michael and does not regret it. They make salad and talk about if Jason will be alright.
Anna reminds Cates that Jason’s cover is blown. Cates believes he is still valuable and that with his knowledge Pikeman will want to shut him up. He wants Jason to be used as bait. Jason refuses because of the risk to his family. Cates believes he can draw Pikeman out and threatens to charge Carly with RICO violations if Jason doesn’t cooperate. Jason agrees if Carly is left alone. Cates has no use for Carly except as a threat to Jason. Cates tries to cut Anna out of the operation. She declares this is her jurisdiction. Cates doesn’t trust Anna to be involved because Anna is WSB and so was Pikeman.
Carly has unwavering faith in Jason and Jason trusts Carly. Willow brings up the breakup with Drew. Carly is surprised but asks how Drew is and says she loves him and misses him. She realizes that she couldn’t return his loyalty. Willow hopes Drew can find something that matters to him.
Drew tells Nina that her problem is when things go wrong she focuses on the wrong things. Nina protests that her only problem is Drew. Drew taunts her about her ‘victimhood complex.’ He reminds her that she lost Nelle, you lied to Carly, you lost Willow and sent Carly to prison. Nina accuses Drew of backtracking and the best thing he ever did was rehiring her. Drew wants to focus on the present and living well as the best form of revenge.
Portia asks if Stella is staying for dinner. Stella says no, and escapes. Portia lets Curtis know that Dante is alive and doing well. She reminds him of how she felt when Curtis woke up. She goes to get cake.
Drew talked Carly into working at Crimson and rebukes Nina’s petty need for revenge. He says focus on yourself and your talents and get out of your own way you could be happy. Bitterly, Nina says she was happy when she had Sonny, Crimson, and Willow. Crimson is all she has left. Drew asks her about accountability after she excuses herself from blame when it comes to breaking up Sonny and Carly. Nina throws Carly’s insider training into Drew’s face and says Drew took the fall for Carly. Drew reminds her that she turned them into the SCC. She says that was legal but unforgivable. She feels exiled from Sonny and her family and asks if that’s fair.
Carly and Joss discuss Dex. Joss knows she needs to let go but a part of her is still waiting for him to call but she wouldn’t answer if he did. They hug.
Bennet accuses Dex of not answering the question of why he wants to be a cop. Dex wants to be a cop because it was recommended by the Commissioner and because he misses doing something good through service. He equates being a cop with being a soldier and doing good. Bennet agrees with the idea of taking an oath to serve. Dex wants to be a part of something bigger and so something important. He wants meaning in his life. His job with Sonny was for money and that was a stupid thing to die for.
Anna understands why Cates doesn’t like her poking around now. He doesn’t trust her because of her ties to the WSB. She believes he is keeping tabs on her. Cates refuses to admit to it but the ties to Pikeman go back to the 80s. She vehemently denies involvement. Suggests Jack Brennan in Pentonville could tell him more since it was alleged he was running the WSB and Pikeman. Anna accuses Cates of believing that she got rid of Brennan and is making a power grab. Cates thinks everyone is a suspect and wants everyone affiliated with Pikeman to go down. Anna wants to know how. Cates thinks Jason will get them an answer.
Portia enters the room to Curtis standing with his cane. Using the fireplace mantel, he drops the cane and slowly shuffles toward her. Portia agrees to coach him, and he walks into a hug. They kiss in celebration.
Nina doesn’t believe Drew isn’t out for revenge. She believes the rage and anger is still there. She asks if there was a button to make Jason disappear if he would press it? Maddison interrupts to let her know an article is in her inbox. Nina sits down to go back to work. Drew asks for the article on health/fitness to be forwarded to him. He suggests that they might be able to work together. Nina is not convinced.
Bennet is concerned with Dex’s affiliation with the Corinthos Organization. He doesn’t want Dex to do it as penance. Dex wants to do it to find purpose.
Carly, Joss, Wiley, Michael, Willow, and Donna dish out salad and Carly is happy that they are all together and Jason is back, and they have so much to celebrate. Donna says, “Let’s eat!”
Jason agrees that Pikeman is going to want to shut him up like Sonny. Jason isn’t sure. They sent two teams after Sonny, one in Puerto Rico, and the Metro court. Cates regrets using Jason, but Pikeman needs to be shut down. He leaves them alone. Anna understands that Jason is protecting Carly but is confused why Jason doesn’t want her to know.
