GH – Recap April 22: Nina deals with Ava’s betrayal while Carly and Nina give up on Sonny.

An aggravated Sonny drags Carly into the back of the restaurant to figure out why Carly accepted the Metro Court from Jason and not him. Carly is happy about having the Metro Court back and is not letting Sonny’s mood affect her.

Danny apologizes for sneaking into Jason’s room at Bobbey’s. Jason is happy to see him.

Kristina is helping assemble furniture with Sam at Sam’s. She asks her sister if she has seen Sonny lately. Kristina thinks he is pushing everyone away like Michael, Carly, and Joss. She brings up Nina and how Sonny was happy with her. She is concerned that Ava is the only person close to him.

At the Savoy, Lois is gushing about having the place to themselves for the shower. Maxie is stressed and upset with Lucy for being self-centered. Lucy believes because she is trending that she is sensational, but Maxie disagrees. The disruptor moisturizer has been delayed because Lucy wants to rename it after herself. Lois suggests calling it, “Deceptive.” Maxie seems impressed by the name.

Nina, upset rushes into her office, asking Madison if there is a way to void a contract before she back tracks, giving up on the idea. Instead, Nina advises Madison to believe people when they are treacherous because even if they pretend to be friendly, they will betray you in a heartbeat. Dismisses Madisonas Ava enters and asks Nina if she has a minute.

Danny came in through the fire escape because he doesn’t want anyone to know he was there. Jason thanks him for helping at the boathouse. Danny wants to know if Jason wishes he hadn’t helped him.

Sam and Kristina discuss how weird it is to keep Avery close when the danger is centered around Sonny. Sam believes it would be the safest spot. Kristina is unhappy with Ava staying there permanently and relying on her. She remembers Morgan and how involved Ava was in his death. Ava had switched out Morgan’s pills leading to the reckless behavior that caused his death. She cannot understand why Sonny trusts her.

Carly thinks Sonny made the offer to buy back her hotel out of guilt for bailing on their marriage. They argue over how their relationship ended. Sonny believes Carly bailed and she is rewriting history. Carly snaps, “You wanted Nina, and you got her. Look at you now.”

Ava apologizes for Sonny’s reaction to Nina selling the hotel to Jason. Nina doesn’t buy her explanation, calling Ava transparent and manipulative. She is embarrassed that she deluded herself into trusting Ava. She wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Maxie thanks Lois for the suggestions. Explains the four products being released from Deception line. Lois says her best friend was the Face of Deception (Brenda.) Maxi is pleseantly surprised that Lois uses their products. Lois loved the Deceptor. Willow and Joslyn turn up with boxes of party favors and offer to help. Lois puts on a pink boa, ready to have fun.

Jason is not sorry to see Danny but not about asking him to lie to his mother. Danny brags that he is good at sneaking around and getting places. He wants Jason to keep his appearance at his place a secret because he doesn’t believe it is fair for Sam to keep them separate.

Carly has no problem taking help from Jason because he believes in her and has her back. Sonny scoffs. She proclaimed that she will always be there for Jason and him for her. Sonny is upset about her blind faith in Jason. He believes Jason tried to kill him.

Ava tells Nina that it was her choice to turn Carly and Drew in. Nina believes she was manipulated into calling the SEC. Ava disagrees, offended, and reminds Nina that she advised against it and the decision was all Nina’s. Nina suggests that Ava has been manipulating her all along because she wants Sonny for herself.

Lois and Josslyn set up favor bags. She invites Joss to stay for the bachelorette, but she has dinner plans with Stella and Trina. Lois invites them too. Drew appears with a box that was left outside. Drew asks Willow where Curtis is. Curtis isn’t there but Willow asks if he has a moment to talk about Amelia.

Sam thinks Sonny can choose his own company. Kristina believes Sonny is vulnerable and Ava is a bad choice. Sam makes her repeat, “It’s not my choice.” A knock at the door reveals Jason with Danny.

Sonny knows that Jason is working for the feds and that is proof that he is working against him. Carly doesn’t believe that going after Sonny is part of Jason’s deal. Sonny is upset that Jason never called while he was walking around with a target on his back for a year. He believes Carly and Jason betrayed him.

Ava says she was moved in by Sonny before Nina was moved out. Nina wants to know why she is still there. Ava is there for Avery and to be on good terms with Avery’s father. Nina thinks Ava feels loved, and special, being seen by Sonny. Ava calls that absurd. Nina wants to expose Ava for knowing what Nina did to Carly and Drew. Threatens her with Sonny’s reaction to the information.

Willow and Michael want to get Amelia swim lessons, but Willow is nervous. Drew backs up Michael’s decision to get Amelia swim lessons. Willow believes him when he says it.

Ava says if it makes her feel better, Nina should tell Sonny everything. Nina is surprised but Ava assures him that Sonny will not believe Nina. Sonny knows Nina is a traitor so she will say anything to get him back. Ava taunts Nina, saying that Sonny has respect for Ava and counts on her. Nina pities Sonny. Ava believes that she knows and understands Sonny.

Carly thinks Sonny is cherry-picking history to make things work for him. She defends Michael who could have but didn’t turn his father in. Sonny says if not for Michael, then Dex wouldn’t work for him and be a spy in his organization. Carly tells him that Michael turned a bad decision around. She reminds Sonny that Dex saved his life multiple times. Sonny will not listen.

Sam berates Danny for seeing Jason. Jason wants to talk about it. Sam tries to dismiss him. Jason stands firm. Kristina lures Danny out of the room by guilt-tripping him into spending time with her. Jason faces Sam. Sam asks how he could do this to their son.

Ava says that Nina has never understood Sonny. She calls him powerful, violent, and turbulent. he can’t live a normal life. He is a notorious mobster. Nina counters that Sonny showed a side that no one else had ever seen. Ava said Mike from Nixxon Falls never existed. That version of Sonny was a fantasy and that Nina never wanted to know the real man. Ava believes they are similar creatures.

Sonny continues to blame Carly for Dex. Carly says she barely recognizes him anymore. After all these years, she wants to know if this is how it ends for them.

Kristina and Danny are drinking coffee at Bobbey’s. Danny hates coffee but drinks it because other kids like it. Kristina is jealous because she can’t drink it. Danny wants to spend time with his dad and Sam is against it. Jason treats Danny like a person, not a kid and he appreciates it. Kristina insists that Sam wants to protect him and asks him to see it from Sam’s point of view. Danny believes Sam is afraid of how Danny and Jason are alike.

Jason wants to figure out how they are going to handle Danny. Sam yells at him to make Danny leave when he tries to see Jason. Jason doesn’t think that will work. Sam suggests that if Danny can’t control his behavior that they have to control it for for him. Sam thinks he is like Jason without the maturity to handle dangerous situations.

Danny believes Sam wants him to be like Rocco. Kristina says Sam loves him for who he is and is confused by Jason’s return. Kristina calls him smart and empathetic. Danny wants to know what he is supposed to do because he won’t give up on his dad.

Sam says it’s not about the physical danger but also about how he disappears. Jason can’t make promises. She wants to know how she lets her son invest in him when he might not be around for it. Jason offers to set boundaries with him, and he will always be honest with Sam. He doesn’t believe cutting Danny off will help anyone. He is sorry for causing trouble. Sam says she is sorry for a lot of things.

Before Drew leaves the Savoy, he tells Willow about spending a lot of time with Nina. She talks about Willow and the grandkids a lot. Willow looks thoughtful.

Ava tells Nina that she gets a partnership out of her relationship with Sonny. They understand how the world works and he doesn’t have to hide things from her. She calls them compatible in ways Nina could never be. Nina tells her to have at it. Nina now resigned to the end of her marriage, signs the divorce papers, and hands them over to Ava.

Carly tells Sonny that she will focus on her life. He can focus on his. Sonny agrees. He says out of all the people that would abandon him; he never thought she would.

Nina flashes back to her relationship with Sonny from Nixxon Falls to the wedding in a series of scenes between them dancing together, and Sonny proposing to her. She glances down at her wedding ring before removing it. She calls Madison into the office. She tells her assistant to mail the rings back to Sonny.
