Mama Gloria Is Back! Ellen Travolta Returns to G.H. In Mid-May
Who is the bigger Momzilla? Lois or Gloria?
That’s right kids! There’s going to be a Cerullo Family Reunion happening just in time for Brook Lynn and Det. Chase’s wedding. Nothing to see here, right… The announcement came earlier this week that veteran actress Ellen Travolta would return to G. H. in May as Gloria Cerullo, the mother of Rena Sofer’s Lois Cerullo and grandmother of Amanda Setton’s Brook Lynn Ashton.
Mama Gloria’s episodes are scheduled to air in mid-May right around the same time that Lois’s father Carmine Cerullo (George Russo) is set to arrive Port Charles. How will Lois handle having both of her parents in town for the wedding? And in the same room? It’s not like they’re known for causing trouble or anything. Who is the bigger Momzilla?
The role of Carmine Cerullo was originally played by John Capodice back in the 90s, and the character hasn’t been seen since. So naturally, when the announcement came earlier this year that Russo would be the new Grandpa Carmine, G.H. fans were pretty confident that Travolta would also be coming back to Port Charles. It was reported that Russo’s episodes would be airing in mid-May, but Soap Opera Digest has narrowed down the date of the Cerullo Family’s return to the week of May 13th.
Everyone loves Lois, but how many Cerullos can Port Charles handle? And, what will this mean for Sonny, will he be confronted by these friends from the old neighborhood? While it is possible that Granny and Grandpa Cerullo may be arriving to Port Charles solely for the wedding of their granddaughter, and nothing more. However knowing their past that is highly unlikely. And, not to be too jaded, but weddings in Port Charles rarely go off without a hitch or a murder…
Ellen Travolta has a long Film and Television career spanning from Grease (1978) to Joanie Loves Chachi (1982-1983) and of course as Lillian on Charles in Charge (1987-1990). She originated the role Gloria Cerullo in 1994 and continued to do so until 1996 when Gloria and Carmine left Port Charles. This will be the first the Cerullo Clan has been seen on screen in over 25 years. As of late, the writers are definitely keen on revisiting characters, feuds, relationships and scandals from the 90s. And we love it!
