Michael E. Knight Brings Marty Back To General Hospital
Michael E. Knight, who left the General Hospital canvas in February, will be back in Port Charles soon as Martin Grey.
Martin Grey Returns to Port Charles
We thought we might never see Marty again when he got on a plane to visit his mother after learning that Lucy (Lynn Herring) had an affair with Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner). Marty spent months mourning Lucy last year when he thought that Anna killed her, so learning she had been unfaithful was devastating.
At the time, Knight told Soap Opera Digest that he was only supposed to be gone for a few short months. Then GH had several headwriter changes that delayed things. When the new head writers were finally in place with Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, Knight got the call that Marty was needed back in Port Charles.
Knight is a longtime ABC soap favorite. He played Tad “The Cad” Martin on All My Children for nearly 30 years, becoming part of a supercouple with Cady McClain’s Dixie Cooney,
Last year, Knight’s GH character became a part of One Life to Live canon when it was revealed that Blair Cramer was one of Marty’s several ex-wives. Kassie DePaiva guest-starred as Blair while All My Children’s Walt Willey guest starred as Jackson Montgomery in the same storyline.
So, what brings Marty back to Port Charles? Does he want to meet his nephew, Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), once he is back in town? Perhaps his legal services are needed and he can become Alexis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) new attorney since Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) is unavailable at the moment. No matter the reason that Knight is back, he is sure to bring his signature sense of humor with him.
