One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery Reunites Days Of Our Lives Alums Alison Sweeney & Victor Webster
So long Mike! Hello Chad!
The countdown begins! In just a few days a newly baked mystery will arrive in the latest installment of the successful Hallmark Mystery movie franchise “A Hannah Swensen Mystery”, although Detective Mike will be missing but that is not the mystery at hand. Though she hasn’t been seen as Sami on Peacock’s Days Of Our Lives for some time, Alison Sweeney has become a staple on the Hallmark Channel due to her portrayal of the endearing culinary sleuth. The upcoming “One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” finds Hannah Mike-less, flustered and flabbergasted as the prime suspect in a murder investigation after one of her cooking knives is discovered as the possible murder weapon and this time she’ll have a new handsome but straight-laced lawman to contend with.
After eight movies, how will audiences react to Hannah without Mike?
Former co-star Cameron Mathison (General Hospital’s Drew) will not be reprising the role of Mike, so Hannah will have to solve this mystery without any help from her longtime leading man. The new leading man/antagonist of the mystery is prosecuting attorney Chad Norton played by Days Of Our Lives Alum Victor Webster (Nickolas). Chad’s honest and aboveboard character is not to be swayed by Hannah’s baked goods nor is he as willing to collaborate with Hannah in the same way Mike was. Hannah’s friends in law enforcement find themselves caught in the middle while being loyal to their friend and doing their jobs as Chad sees fit. Will Chad ever trust Hannah and find a way for them to work together?
Not complaining, but what’s the story behind the switch in leading men?
Sweeney and Mathison co-starred in the mystery series together beginning in 2015 with “Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery”. The banter, chemistry and tension kept audiences always coming back for more of Hannah and Mike’s on-again, off-again relationship for a total of 8 movies. Their final collaboration “A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” was released in the fall of 2023.
Will the new duo exude the same chemistry to satisfy fans?
Barbara Niven will return as Hannah’s mother Delores, but she may be more involved in the mystery than ever before as it’s discovered that she has secrets of her own. What skeletons are in Dolores’ closet? Are they personal of professional?
One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery airs on Friday, April 5 9/8c. Check local listings.
