Port Charles Wedding Fashion Leaves So Much To Be Desired & Explained
How can one focus on the storyline when being struck in the face – like when Sonny clobbered Dex in the face – with such glaring wardrobe missteps?
Not to take away from how gorgeous Brook Lynn and Chase looked on their wedding day, but many of the guests’ fashion ensembles were not up to par for a wedding, let alone the glamor of General Hospital.
Yes, Lois looked stunning! Her outfit was glamorous and meticulously accessorized with that multi-strand mixed pearl necklace and her jewel encrusted nails. So Lois! Ned was also very dashing in his dark blue over light blue tattersall-patterned suit. In fact, all of the gents looked great. However, what were the ladies wearing and what was going on with the mis-matched handbags?
First of all, can we begin with Sam’s dress? Clearly, she is in amazing shape that is evident in every episode in which she appears, but her wedding outfit came across as sloppy. The dress wasn’t formal or flattering enough for her personality. It was giving off the vibe of buckets of mustard seed and chunks of the Swamp Thing thrown into a blender. She’s a Private Investigator, for crying out loud!
Secondly, the clutches that Kristina and Blaze were carrying, why? As stand alone accessories those clutches could be cute, especially Kristina’s white clutch with silver hardware which would have looked wonderful with a white jacket and dark jeans, but not with that pink maternity dress. The dresses both ladies were wearing were fine, not amazing, but fine. But those clutches were not only the wrong style, they were the wrong colors for what they were wearing! Just completely appalling in contrast to their dresses.
Thirdly, Anna is such a strong and stunning lady and it’s wonderful that she is finally wearing some color. But why that dress! It would be a lovely dress for a character like Lucy or Nina having a business lunch, but not a total boss like Anna Devane. It was just all wrong for her character and, again, it wasn’t formal enough for a wedding.
And, lastly, poor Tracy. What were they thinking? It’s Tracy Quartermaine, her wedding attire shouldn’t look so dowdy. Just because she’s evolving, embracing her feelings and showing emotion, doesn’t mean she’s lost all sense of elegance, beauty and style. The eye shadow matching her outfit was a nice touch, but she’s no granny per her own admission/declaration, so why was she dressed like one?
Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding evoked a desire for a resurgence of the golden era of Soap Opera fashion and glamor, i.e. Dynasty, Hotel, Dallas or even contemporary shows like Suits and the Dynasty reboot. How can one focus on the storyline when being struck in the face – like when Sonny clobbered Dex in the face – with such glaring wardrobe missteps?
