Sal Stowers Reveals Whether Lani and Eli Will Return To Stay
Days of our Lives fans were thrilled to welcome Lani and Eli back to Salem for Thanksgiving. Sadly, the occasion will turn bittersweet on Friday when they learn that Eli’s step-grandfather Doug has passed away.
Sal Stowers Is Thrilled To Be Back
Stowers was honored to be asked to return to DAYS for the memorial episodes set to air next week and found herself in absolute awe of Susan Seaforth Hayes who plays Julie. While Julie said goodbye to Doug, Seaforth Hayes had to say goodbye to her husband all over again. Doug’s death scenes were filmed this past spring, while Bill Hayes passed away in January at the age of 98.
“This was Susan’s real-life circumstance that she had just gone through, and she was having to relive it all over again,” Stowers said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “I just want to speak to the woman that Susan is. For her to carry herself with such poise and grace through this… She was so put together during this really hard time in her life. It was absolutely beautiful and sad to watch, but I was really impressed by that. In life, when things happen to us, we can be like, ‘Woe is me’ and go down this dark hole. Yet there’s such a beautiful light and presence during the filming of this episode, and it was really beautiful to see.”
Stowers left the show in 2022 after Lani was sentenced to prison for killing her biological father. After being released earlier this year, she and Eli chose to stay in the Washington, DC area for Eli’s job. Stowers had already been back once when Lani was on furlough last year and would be open to playing Lani again on a regular basis.
“Lamon and I have definitely talked about it. We’ve always kind of kept that in the back of our minds, because we do love the show and we do love these characters. So definitely, in my mind, I hope to return,” Stowers said. “Anytime I do get that call from Marnie [Saitta, DAYS casting director] or an email asking, ‘Hey, are you interested in coming in for this?’ — it’s always a yes. That’s just because of my love for the show, and I am the actress that I am today because of this show. So I could never say no to it.”
That means the Grants might return to town with their two twins, Jules and Carver, and this time, they may even stay. Here’s to hoping.
