Days of our Lives brought the drama the week of September 3-6. Some moments were hits, some were misses, and Soap Talks has the rundown on what worked and what didn’t in Salem this past week.
Best of DAYS
Holly’s whole world was shattered when she learned that Eric was the drunk driver who killed her father before she was born. This reveal was years in the making as fans watched Eric practically raise Holly and Holly referred to Eric as her dad. To see the devastation on her face when she learned the truth was heartbreaking and pure soap.
Sarah’s memories are there but they are still murky. And that is just the way Fiona wants it. It’s classic soap to be on the edge of your seat waiting to see if Fiona will manage to suppress Sarah’s memories another day. Fiona is desperate to keep the truth buried, especially if her secret can ruin her relationship with her son.
Gabi emerged from jail more determined than ever before to live life just the way she wants it. If that involves seducing EJ as part of a revenge plot, then so be it. Even EJ is surprised at just how ruthless Gabi can be. He even seems to like Gabi so could a DiMera brother triangle be on its way.
Worst of DAYS
Word is the soap within a soap is not going anywhere any time soon and some fans wonder if this is what got head writer Ron Carlivati fired. DAYS has had its share of unrealistic stories, but casting Salemites as soap characters is up there in the top 10. None of these characters have any acting experience and the Body and Soul plots seem to insult soaps rather than celebrate them.
Why does DAYS have a fake Abby when it could have had a real one and why introduce a whole new family to give us a fake Abby? The story makes no sense and is only going to lead to heartbreak when there was no reason not to really bring Abby back from the dead.
Alex and Stephanie just don’t work as a couple and that’s all there is to it. DAYS tried this before and it was a disaster, so why not go for it again? When GH attempted a break between Finn and Elizabeth before attempting another romantic plot, it did not work and it’s not going to work for DAYS.
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of Days of our Lives on Peacock starting at 6 AM ET each weekday.
