General Hospital brought the drama the week of August 19-23. Some moments were hits, some were misses, and Soap Talks has the rundown on what worked and what didn’t in Port Charles this past week.
The Best of GH
When Alexis told Kristina and Molly that it would be a disaster of epic proportions if Kristina became Molly’s egg donor and surrogate, she wasn’t kidding. However, nobody expected Kristina to be fall out the window and into the Metro Court pool while eight months pregnant. Between Kristina’s histrionics at the baby’s funeral and Molly’s absolute exasperation at her sister once again making things all about her, this is the soapy drama we are here for.
Brad Cooper was certainly a sight for sore eyes this week and it was nice to see Parry Shen back on our screens. Brad always brings the humor with his hapless ways. We’d just like to see him have a storyline this time. Maybe Lucas can also return since there is certainly unfinished business between the former husbands.
Breaking up Ava and Nina’s friendship for no good reason earlier this year seemed like foul play and we’re glad the writers realized what a mistake that was. Ava got herself painted into a corner while Nina tried to improve her life. Seeing them have a scene where Ava admits her mistakes and Nina seems like she still cares is a step in the right direction.
The Worst of GH
How many more times do we have to be subjected to the Home & Heart channel and Haven De Haviland? It’s campy, it adds nothing to the story, and this week, it became offensive. There was no reason Lois’ Brooklyn accent had to become a topic of conversation, especially when people with Brooklyn accents watch the soap.
Anna presented Jason with his age-old choice this week. As always, he failed the test. We were told we were going to see a new Jason, but this is the same old Jason who enjoys being a mafia hitman taking orders from Sonny. After all these decades, it just doesn’t work anymore. Maybe Jason needs to find a love interest.
How did Jagger Cates go from kind-hearted rebel fighting for justice to an obsessed and deranged FBI agent willing to threaten, bend the law, and make up phony charges? This is not the Jagger we once knew and wonder if this man is an imposter.
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of General Hospital each weekday on ABC and weeknight on Hulu.
