General Hospital brought the drama the week of September 3-6. Some moments were hits, some were misses, and Soap Talks has the rundown on what worked and what didn’t in Port Charles this past week.
Best of GH
When Ava and Jason first met, he was known as Patient 6 and she was hoping to have plastic surgery to repair her burns. They escaped a Russian prison together and became friends. Then, Sonny declared Jason had to hate Ava. This week, we saw that Jason and Ava truly play off each other well and need to be in more scenes together. Jason seems to have a softer side now so maybe he can think for himself and like Ava without Sonny’s input.
Without Finn, Elizabeth seems to shine more no matter what man she is with. While there is potential for Liz and Jason, she also has Ric back trying to rekindle something. Their scenes in the hospital and on the bridge reminded us why we liked Liz and Ric together — when he is acting like a somewhat decent human. Ric can also be awful to Elizabeth, we will see where this goes.
We never understood why GH chose to break up Nina and Ava’s friendship, but thankfully the show decided to fix that mistake. Nina offered Ava an olive branch when she tried to secure Ric as Ava’s lawyer. She also told Ava that Ava deserved a second chance and Willow showed her how to show grace.
Worst of GH
Sonny shot an unarmed FBI agent in cold blood and it didn’t matter that he was a rogue agent who had lost his mind and his way. He still committed a massive crime and we are supposed to hope she gets off scot-free. Carly is already covering for him, as is Michael, which only means that Sonny is supposed to be the hero in this scenario when he is not.
Drew and Willow are not appealing. Full stop. He looks like a creepy old man when he is with her and she looks like a child desperate for a father’s love. The fact that Drew is also sleeping with Willow’s mother makes this entire “romance” between Drew and Willow all the more cringe.
What is GH telling adoptive parents or parents who have used a surrogate when the show has Kristina say that Molly can’t understand motherhood because she didn’t carry Irene for nine months? Sure, the scenes at Irene’s grave were dramatic, but Kristina and GH seem to have lost the plot.
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of General Hospital each weekday on ABC and weeknight on Hulu.
