The End of Marcus Taggert? General Hospital’s Real Andrews Has The Scoop

General Hospital fans have been wondering about whatever happened to Marcus Taggert since he learned that he wasn’t Trina Robinson’s biological father. Now, Real Andrews has some answers.

Real Andrews Sets The Record Straight

The last time we saw Taggert, he was a hot mess after learning that Curtis was really Trina’s father. Taggert had raised Trina since birth and never wanted to think she couldn’t possibly be his. When DNA tests revealed the truth, Taggert went on a bender, cried like a real man, put in his name as a possible police commissioner, and was never heard from again.

Trina had promised that Taggert would always be her dad, but Trina quickly began referring to Curtis as her dad and Portia and Curtis as her parents. It was like Taggert had been erased.

Andrews finally took to Instagram this week to address his GH status in a video he shared.

“My chapter with General Hospital is over,” Andrews said. “The writing has been on the wall for a long time. It’s been an amazing journey. I wanted to come here because you guys have been phenomenal, the best, amazing supporters.”

The actor went on to thank those who gave him his start at GH. Andrews originated the role of Taggert in 1996 and remained with GH until 2003. He returned to the soap in 2020, but his last scenes were in early 2023.

“It’s just been an incredible journey, you know,” he continued. I do want to give a shout-out to [Casting Director] Mark Teschner [who] gave me the first opportunity [to join the show], [former Head Writer] Bob Guza, [former Executive Producer] Wendy Riche, [Executive Producer] Frank [Valentini. All the champions there.”

Andrews hinted about a new project he was working on, but couldn’t say what it was. He just noted that it was one of the most important roles he has ever had.

Could Taggert show up again one day? Never say never when it comes to soaps.
