What’s Ahead For Lulu? General Hospital’s Alexa Havins Drops Some Hints
Now that Lulu has finally opened her eyes after four long years in a coma, she has to get used to how life has changed around her since 2020.
Lulu’s big awakening
When Lulu first entered her coma, her children were still just that — children. Now, Rocco and Charlotte are teenagers. Not only that, but Valentin is on the run with Charlotte and nobody knows where they are. Lulu will also learn that she was in liver failure and Sam McCall sacrificed her life so that Lulu could have a piece of her liver.
Perhaps Lulu’s biggest surprise will come when she learns that Dante was in love with Sam and he had proposed marriage right before she died.
Lulu also has a brand-new face as All My Children alum Alexa Havins is now in the role. Soap fans will remember her from her time as Pine Valley’s Babe Carey. She will even get to reunite with Michael E. Knight. He plays Lulu’s uncle Martin. He previously played Babe’s stepfather, Tad, on AMC.
Havins is taking over for Emme Rylan, who GH let go in 2020. Before Rylan brought Lulu to life, the character was portrayed by Julie Marie Berman. Havins doesn’t want to be a carbon copy of either actress.
“I didn’t watch clips or anything like that because I didn’t want to try to go that route,” Havins told TV Insider. “Her relationships with the pivotal people in her life is high priority to me. How does she connect with her mother? How is she connecting with her brother? Where is she with Dante that chemistry and spark has to still be alive.”
Havins also admits that Lulu’s life will become complicated right away.
“The writers have written some really fun things,” she said. “We know she’s waking up from a four-year coma, so we’ve got a lot of twists and turns and we hit the ground running. Just being a part of that next Spencer family adventure feels very rewarding. To be able to be a piece of such a massively important family on the daytime canvas feels like an honor. I want to honor what Genie and Anthony built, to continue the story, and just give the audience what they’re wanting as far as Lulu goes.”
