Who else is getting Dominique Deveraux vibes From GH’s Natalia? 

After her recent run-ins with Blaze, Maxie and most recently with Alexis, stage-mom Natalia Rogers-Ramirez is not only taking charge of her daughter’s life, but she appears to be making her presence known and weaving her web into the fabric of Port Charles. 

Natalia (played by Daytime darling, Eva LaRue) is new to Port Charles. She is the controlling mother of singer Blaze, and her daughter’s music career and brand are her top priority. LaRue made her first GH appearance on Feb. 26, which she announced on Instagram. 

Which leads us to this question; who else is getting Dominique Deveraux vibes (from the CW’s Dynasty reboot) from Natalia? 

The character of Dominique was first introduced on the ABC prime-time soap opera Dynasty and its spin-off, The Colbys. The glamorous journalist and longtime Alexis Carrington Colby adversary was originally portrayed by Diahann Carroll from 1984 to 1987. In the reboot, Michael Michele’s interpretation introduced Dominique as a controlling, fortune-hunting mother set on getting her daughter’s singing career off and running. She made clawing her way up the social ladder an Olympic sport, even if it meant compromising her and her daughter’s virtue, all while manipulating her relationship to half-brother Blake and anyone who could be a stepping stone for her ambitions. 

The Dominique clashes and controlling schemes regarding her daughter knew no bounds. Now, doesn’t that sound a lot like what Natalia is up to… The romantic relationship between Blaze and Kristina Davis (Corinthos) and the surrogacy, as well as the business relationship between Blaze and bride-to-be Brook Lynn have Natalia on a rampage to set things right. But, right for whom?

Blaze felt pressured to keep her sexual orientation quiet because of what that information might do to her brand, and because of how Natalia would react to impact on her daughter’s public image. It seems it all comes down to appearances and numbers, and of course dollars for Natalia. But what about her daughter’s happiness? 

 And now, Natalia seems to have piqued Sonny’s interest. After their encounter in the park and drinks back at Sonny’s place, Ava may have more to worry about than just Sonny’s meds… Was that really a coincidence or just a bit of luck that Natalia will capitalize on to serve her own ambitions?

Eva LaRue began her Daytime career in 1988 on drama Santa Barbara. She is best known and revered for playing Dr. Maria Santos Grey on All My Children from 1993 to 2011. She wouldn’t win her first daytime Emmy until 2020 for guest starring on Y&R as Celeste Rosales.
