Days of our Lives Return: Eric Brady Back in Salem…But Where’s Nicole?

Days of our Lives fans will welcome Greg Vaughan back at Eric Brady next week, only a little over a month since Eric took off with Nicole to Paris to start a brand-new life with Jude.

Greg Vaughan’s Return Engagement

Eric is set to make his Salem comeback to support his brother, Brady. Poor Brady (Eric Martsolf) believes he ran down Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) with his car while driving drunk. He has no idea that Sarah’s own mother-in-law, Fiona, was the one behind the wheel while he was passed out in the back seat. Fiona moved Brady to the front and left him in the car alone claiming she had no idea how he ever got home.

Eric can relate to Brady’s plight considering how he was driving drunk the night Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian) died. Eric was in despair over Nicole and Daniel’s engagement, so he drank himself into a stupor and got into his car. Before Eric and Nicole left town, EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) threatened to tell Holly (Ashley Puzemis) that Eric was the one who killed her father in a drunk driving accident. To avoid Holly ever learning the truth, Eric and Nicole chose to skip town instead.

How Long Will Eric’s Return Last?

There’s no word on how long Vaughan will stick around, but there were rumors that he’d briefly be back to wrap up his story back in July when Arianne Zucker exited as Nicole. Vaughan began playing Eric in 2012 after Eric had been away from Salem for years. He is the second adult actor to play Eric, with Jensen Ackles in the role in the late 1990s. The character was born on-screen in 1984.

Vaughan has left the soap several times over the last dozen years, so it’s possible he can return again after what we expect to be a brief stint.
