General Hospital Fans Fight For Kelly Monaco

News about the firing of General Hospital star Kelly Monaco has hit fans hard and they are fighting back. The 21-year GH vet was reportedly “blindsided” by the news that the soap let her go, and so were her fans.

A Petition to Save Kelly Monaco’s Job

Dedicated fans quickly turned to Change.org and began a petition to send to ABC to keep Monaco on the show. The petition already has more than 3,000 signatures and you can find it here and add your name.

Fans have also taken to X (formerly Twitter) to let others know how to contact ABC directly. The GH comment line is always open and fans have been bombarding the phones since Monday night when news of Monaco’s GH exit became public.

When Rebecca Herbst was fired more than a decade ago, her fans let their voices be heard immediately. GH was forced to reverse course and offer Herbst her job back before Elizabeth ever exited the Port Charles scene. Monaco fans are now taking a cue from Herbst’s own fans and thank them.

“I’d like to thank all of @RebeccaLHerbst amazing fans for showing us how it’s done! We’re going to try to follow their excellent example! Call call call, nonstop! Also tweet, email, everything! We love you, @kellymonaco1! Not at dawn, we ride right now!!!” wrote X user @pjporten.

Can Sam Be Saved?

If GH fans have their way, Alexis won’t have to live her worst nightmare. She already told Molly that she couldn’t handle losing one of her beloved daughters, which was seen as an anvil on the August 27 episode.

At the moment, it looks like Sam is going to be killed off sometime this fall, leaving Dante and two children behind. Sam’s death will have a ripple effect throughout Port Charles. The question is — will it be handled in a way that could one day open the door to Monaco’s return?

Don’t forget to watch new episodes of General Hospital weekdays on ABC and weeknights on Hulu.
