The Official End of Kelly Monaco as Sam

General Hospital’s Sam McCall may have died on October 30, but Kelly Monaco got to show her acting chops by laying still for two full episodes as Sam’s loved ones said goodbye.

When Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) said goodbye to Sam, those scenes marked the official end of Kelly Monaco’s 21-year tenure on General Hospital. Fans were outraged when news of the actress’ firing broke in August and further outraged to learn that Sam would be killed.

Sam then did the selfless thing and donated part of her liver to a comatose Lulu. All seemed fine as Sam recovered and showed off her new engagement ring to Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn). Then, the next thing Alexis knew, Sam went into cardiac arrest. Portia (Brook Kerr), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), and Lucas (Van Hansis) did all they could to save her, but it was all for naught as Lucas finally called time of death at 5:48 PM.

The character’s death is set to reverberate throughout Port Charles as Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Scout (Cosette Abinante) learn to live without their mom and Alexis learns to live in a world without her beloved daughter. However, Dante and Rocco (Finn Carr) will get a miracle when Lulu finally wakes and is played by All My Children alum Alexa Havins. Laura (Genie Francis) will get her daughter back while Alexis is steeped in grief. Will Alexis learn to resent Laura? Time will tell.

Monaco taped her last scenes as Sam on September 27, just days shy of her 21-year anniversary with GH on October 1. She has promised a full statement about her departure that Soap Talks will bring to you as soon as Monaco breaks her silence.
